Here is a brief list of items required to carry out the professional research of spirit activity.

The Presence of a ghost can be detected in many ways!

+ Electrical

     Torch

Essential to any Investigation is a torch with spare batteries. Spirits have been known to drain battery power of electrical items used in Paranormal Investigation.

     Walkie - Talkies

Or two - way radio’s are a good way to communicate when splitting up to cover more ground, at a large location.

     Thermometer

Temperature fluctuations can indiacate a Spirit presence. A digital thermometer is the sure way to get an accurate reading of temprature change.

     EMF Meter

An electro magnetic field meter is one of the most important gadgets to have, it’s sole purpose is to measure fluctuations in electro magnetic field.

Electrical equipment and cables generate an electro magnetic field, so does the human body. Every time your heart beats, it releases an electrical charge. Whilst setting up an Investigation it is important to check electrical items against an EMF meter in order to get a reading that can be noted. It is believed that spirits can cause fluctuations in EMF readings. So during investigation, should the meter give an alternative result than initial tests. Although it is not hard evidence, it would indicate that you may not be alone…

A reading above 2.5 milligauss is thought to suggest a Paranormal presence.

     Radio/Tape/IC Recorder

With one of these items in a strategic place the recording of EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) is possible.

     Digital/Video Camera’s

Modern equipment is helping a great deal in today’s Paranormal Investigations. Better evidence is now being captured thanks to simply better technology.

Digital camera’s can be used to capture spirit activity and orb’s, known as the first manifestation of a spirit presence (ghost). Video camera’s with night vision are another good tool essential to investigate haunted locations. Positioned accurately in a locked off room or held during Investigation anomalies, orb’s, and sometimes moving objects like furniture can be caught on tape as crucial Paranormal evidence. By this means, the ultimate evidence would be a full apparition.

     Light Beam Sensors/Motion Detectors

Placed in an area where phenomena has occurred, whilst the area under Investigation is left un - attended, should a set motion detector alarm sound. It Would suggest that something has broken the beam.

+ General

     Notebooks & Pen’s

Making note’s for future reference, or just as a catalogue of events is a good idea whilst carrying out an Investigation.

Experiments can be done using trigger objects, crosses are commonly used as well as other items. Placed on a blank sheet of paper and the outline drawn can sometimes show movement if the experiment is done in a locked off room.

     Cotton & Tape

As mentioned above, rooms in a Paranormal Investigation can be locked off for experiments and sealed with cotton and adhesive tape. This means that interference can be ruled out, thus making your work & any captured Paranormal evidence credible.

      Candles

A flickering flame from a household candle can be a detection of spirit activity, but only if drafts in the location can be discounted.

     Flour/Baby Powder

Under Investigation flour can be used as evidence of phenomena. A light coating can be applied to a floor or surface where activity has been witnessed. Hand and footmarks have been captured in past Investigations.

Baby powder is preferable to capture the same phenomena, as it has a unique softness and can be applied evenly from it’s dispenser.

     Marbles

Carefully placed marbles using the baby powder method (above) can show movement in a sealed off experiment.
